Christie Brinkley – the triple threat actress, model and entrepreneur – announced that she has been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. In a candid social media post, the multi-talented 70-year-old opened up about how she found out she had basal cell carcinoma and luckily caught it early on, before it progressed further.

Christie Brinkley was diagnosed with skin cancer

The Parks and Recreation Alum was revealed on March 13, 2024. Instagram Post that she had a gash on the top of her forehead where doctors had to remove the cancer.

“The good news for me is that we discovered basal cell carcinoma early,” Christie captioned the carousel. “And I had great doctors who removed the cancer and stitched me up perfectly like a haute couture Dior. The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by paying careful attention to your sun protection! I got serious about it a little late, so now to this old mermaid/gardener I apply my SPF 30 and reapply as needed. I wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat. And regular full body exams are a MUST!”

The model then recounted how a doctor discovered the cancer when she took one of her children for a routine checkup.

“I was lucky enough to find mine because I accompanied one of my daughters to HER checkup,” Christine continued. “The doctor looked at each freckle with a magnifying glass… it wasn't my appointment so I didn't want to say anything, but at the very end I asked him if he could just look at a small spot that I felt like I was I applied my primer. He took one look and immediately knew a biopsy was needed! He did it on the spot!”

Towards the end of her lengthy caption, Christie warned her followers to make regular doctor's appointments and wear sunscreen when out in the sun.

“So give yourself good luck by scheduling your check-up appointment today,” she added. “And grease up my friends! Many thanks to Dr. Abraham, Dr. Anolik, Dr. Geronemus and Dr. “Lloyd Hoffman at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York.”

What is basal cell carcinoma?

Per Mayo ClinicBasal cell carcinoma is a form of skin cancer caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays. The disease appears on the skin as a “slightly transparent bump,” the website says. The most common areas of the body where basal cells can develop are the face and neck, where people receive the most sunlight.

The website also notes that the first sign of cancer is usually a lesion, which can take the following forms: a translucent skin-colored bump, a brown, black, or blue lesion, a scaly patch of skin, or a white scar. like a lesion.

How is Christie Brinkley doing now?

According to an Instagram post from Christie, CoverGirl's former face was diagnosed with skin cancer early on and her doctors were able to remove the lesion she discovered on her head. With effective treatment, basal cell carcinoma can usually be cured.
