The stars of Boy meets world finally discuss a troubling situation involving a now-disgraced guest star from more than two decades ago.

In this week's episode of the podcast Pod meets worldformer BMW Co-stars Danielle Fishel, Will FriedleAnd Driver strong came together to talk about grooming, child sexual abuse and manipulation. They were joined by a family therapist Katie Morton as her guest on the show. And while the topic is certainly heavy in its own right, there is one particular point that ties back to her past – and previous ones BMW Guest star Brian Peck.

Peck, now 63, was first arrested in 2003 and accused of sexually abusing a child actor he was training. Nearly a dozen more allegations followed, and in 2004 he was convicted of sexually abusing an unnamed child actor with whom he had worked on a film Nickelodeon Sentence. For this, Peck had to spend more than 16 months in prison.

However, Peck previously appeared in supporting roles in several episodes of Season 5 of Boy meets world. That was in 1997, long before anyone knew about the disturbing child sexual abuse allegations and subsequent convictions. But Friedle and Strong nevertheless noted some deeply troubling alleged manipulation and manipulation by Peck.

Friedle, now 47, remembers how Peck ingratiated himself into the cast despite having such small and short-lived roles on the series:

“I didn’t really go to parties. I didn't really do that. But after that I worked a lot Boy meets worldand this guy became so integrated into my life that I took him to three shows after that Boy meets world. It was the kind of thing where the person he introduced was a great, funny guy who was really good at his job and who you wanted to hang out with… I saw him every day, hung out with him every day, every day talked to him that day.”

And Strong, now 44, remembers hanging out with Peck “all the time” after filming, even though there was a 20-year age difference between the two. Interestingly, things weren't the same for Fishel, now 42 years old. She recalled that Peck, who is gay, mostly ignored her:

“I think that's important in Rider and Will's story, why he became such close friends with the two of you. And I had lunch with him a few times, but only because someone else invited me… He didn't really bother to get to know me. He hasn't integrated into my life that much. I never heard from him again after the show ended.”

Danielle continued:

“The other adults on set who maybe could have or should have said, 'Why are you going to lunch with this guy?' Or, “Why is this guy going to a party at Rider's house?” There was probably a part of them that didn't say it because they were afraid it might be construed as homophobia, rather than saying, “That's a line whether gay or not. 'That's a line between adults and children.'”

Yes why Was an older man who is supposedly keen enough to go to a cast party hosted by teenagers?! Pooh…

Things took a turn for the worst for Friedle, who played Eric Matthews on the hit series, after Peck was arrested on allegations of child sexual abuse. At Peck's trial, the disgraced actor asked Will to support him by testifying in court. At that moment, Friedle realized it had gone too far:

“We're sitting on the wrong side of this courtroom…The victim's mother turned around and said, 'Look at all the famous people you brought with you.' And it doesn't change what you did to my child.' I just sat there and wanted to die. It was like, ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ It was terrible all around.”

Good Lord…

Reflecting on that courtroom appearance and the fact that both Strong and Friedle were unknowingly writing letters in support of Peck at the time, Will added:

“We weren't told the whole story, but that doesn't change the fact that we did it. I still can’t find the words to describe all the things I feel inside.”

As for Strong, who played Shawn Hunter BMWHis last encounter with Peck was about seven years ago at a Hollywood party. Peck was supposedly just as manipulative as ever – but this time, as an adult, Rider could see exactly what was going on:

“The story he told me was nonsense, but he let me know that he was with famous people who validated him and put him in the category of Hollywood royalty. He did that all the time when we were on set Boy meets world and I never saw it because it was so effortless. Here I was like at this party and I had to leave, I was so fucking panicked.”

As for Friedle, he hasn't seen Brian Peck in nearly two decades now. Still, he struggles with the fact that he defended a sex offender in court instead of taking the victim's side. He concluded:

“There is a real sacrifice here. And he turned us against the victim so that we are now on his team. For me, this is the point where I look back in hindsight at my eternal shame for all this time [thing]. If I get involved with someone who is a good actor and manipulator, I could trace it back to my youth, and that's just how it is. It's terrible. I'm going to use that to grow as a person, but if it's an actual victim and I'm now on the perpetrator's side, that's the thing that I can't get over and haven't been able to get over.”

Wow. These are some very heavy and difficult emotions to process.
