Woman realizes masked burglar is actually her ex-husband! – Perez Hilton – Monomaxos

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

What a terrible ending with an unexpected twist for this poor woman’s real-life nightmare…

A new lifespan Movie with Jana Kramer came out on television and streaming services over the weekend and told the horrific story of Morgan Metzerwho barely survived a terrible break-in. The shocking thing about this woman’s story, however, is that it was all too real! And it begins when her marriage to her now ex-husband Rodney Metzer began to fall apart.

While I was The US Sun before the publication of Gaslit by my husbandMorgan explained what exactly happened between her and Rodney and where it all started to go wrong. The pair had been married since 2001 and suffered a devastating loss when one of their children died of congenital heart failure just weeks after his birth in 2011. While they mourned the loss of their baby, the husband – a financial trader – also lost a large portion of his inheritance that year.

Eventually, the two were able to give birth to twins, but it did not resolve the deep-rooted issues the couple was already struggling with. They ultimately filed for divorce in December 2020, but according to Morgan, that’s when things changed with Rodney:

“He quickly became a stalker.”

At the time, she said he would make “weird” comments and ask her out despite their estrangement. He still hoped to win her back, she thought, but she was not on the same page. The couple drove to Florida around Christmas this year to drop the kids off with relatives and show them “that we’re a unit.” But when they got home, she says, that’s when Rodney really freaked out.

He called his estranged wife and told her he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer – an absolute bombshell! But the bigger shock? It wasn’t true. She was about to find out that it was all part of a huge web of lies he had spun:

“He even forged the documents. That was his last attempt to get me back.”

The night before New Year’s Eve 2020, Morgan let her ex sleep on the couch. But she was determined to start 2021 with a new life, so she kicked him out on New Year’s Eve. She went to bed early that night, rang in the New Year when she was woken up by fireworks just before midnight, and fell back asleep. However, thirty minutes into 2021, she heard a creak and turned around to see someone standing in her doorway…

A masked burglar using a voice changer that “sounded like something out of Batman” struck. She recalled:

“A lamp on the ground floor was on, so light fell on him from behind. I screamed so loudly that I probably won’t be able to scream that again. It was so painful. Soon he was on top of me.”

So scary! And here’s where it gets really horrific. He started hitting her with a gun, and with each blow she wondered if it could be Rodney or someone else – but those thoughts didn’t stay in her head for long. She was more worried about her life:

“At that point I knew I was going to die.”

The intruder allegedly beat and pummeled her for HALF an HOUR before he began strangling her. She said the adrenaline thankfully made the blows to her body less painful, but “the choking was the worst feeling in the world.” She could only see her attacker’s eyes, so she couldn’t identify him as “he was wearing a mask that made him look like Batman, even the ears were pointed up a little.” (Something tells us the trademarked Warner Bros character won’t appear in the Lifetime film.)

However, Morgan identified her attacker without seeing his face before he left. She recalled that on the way out he said that she would miss her family and her husband:

“I thought, ‘Wow, it’s him.’ Why would someone say out of the blue that they’re going to miss their husband?”

The attacker dragged the half-naked Morgan outside and destroyed all possible evidence against him before fleeing the scene. RandomlyRodney showed up just over an hour after the attacker broke in. He claimed someone had told him about a break-in at his ex-wife’s house:

“I told him that night that I would be at my parents’ house, so why would he come to my house?”

Why should someone tell him instead of going to the police immediately?? Why shouldn’t you He Go to the police after hearing someone broke in?? This guy had already dug himself a hole!

Morgan vehemently accused her ex-husband of being the attacker, which sent him into a panic when police arrived. It didn’t take long for police to piece things together, and Rodney was arrested within hours. Despite the emotional turmoil of being attacked by a man she had known and loved since childhood, and despite having to watch the father of her children dragged away for such a heinous crime, she admitted that she took some comfort in having him unmasked, so to speak:

“No one ever believed he was a bad person, which was a relief. He always blamed me too, so I thought I was wrong. That was gaslighting… Finally, everyone could see his true face.”

After his arrest, Rodney faced a whopping EIGHT felony charges and originally faced 70 years in prison before pleading guilty and having the sentence reduced to 25 years. Morgan recalled having to explain to her children that “Daddy had done something bad.” The whole ordeal left lasting scars, as she said:

“For the first few months, I didn’t sleep at all, period. I would sit in the corner of my son’s room and just stare at the door. Doors scare me now. When someone stands in the middle of a doorway, it triggers such a big reaction in me… I probably [my kids] probably home from school a lot more often than I should.”

Heartbreaking… We can’t imagine the betrayal and the emotions she felt. You feel like you know someone…

Morgan works with a therapist on an ongoing basis and finds some relief in telling her story on film. She is also working on a book:

“I want to raise awareness for people who suffer in silence. I want women to learn to talk to each other in a circle of people they trust. I didn’t realize how toxic my situation was and how much easier life could be.”

Absolutely unimaginable. We are so glad Morgan came out of this situation and lived to tell her story. We hope she continues to heal and finds peace in the midst of all the turmoil.
